THE CURTAIN JOURNAL / PRACTICAL INSPIRATION
Pleats, headings and the finished fall
Choose a heading and length together for a considered result.

A wave heading creates a regular rhythm; a pinch pleat gathers fabric into more structured groups. Eyelets create a different relationship with the rod. Compatibility depends on the chosen hardware.
Heading choices affect fullness, stacking space and where you measure the drop. Confirm these with the track or rod supplier instead of applying one rule to every system.
Floor length can give a generous vertical line, while sill or below-sill lengths may suit a practical constraint. Check heaters, opening windows and cleaning access.
Avoid excess fabric where it could create a practical obstruction. For homes with children, discuss suitable hardware and cord arrangements with the installer.
