Sheer or blackout: start with your light
How to discuss daylight, privacy and lining without relying on a label.

Sheer describes an open visual effect; blackout describes a light-control goal. Neither word alone tells you how a complete installation will behave.
For a bedroom, ask about the selected cloth, lining, edge gaps and track arrangement. Light can enter around a dense curtain even when the fabric itself blocks light.
For a living space, consider separate sheer and outer layers. Test privacy with lights on indoors after dark. Do not assume a daytime sample demonstration predicts nighttime privacy.
Ask for written specifications for the actual fabric and lining you choose. Reference photographs in this library are aesthetic examples, not performance certificates.
